Indianapolis, IN — Karen Pence, the former second lady of the United States and the former first lady of Indiana, is thrilled to announce the launch of Hummingbird Charitable Foundation, an initiative dedicated to recognizing and supporting charities making significant impacts in Indiana communities. This new Foundation aims to highlight the invaluable work of nonprofits and offer them the recognition and financial resources they need to further their mission.

Mrs. Pence created Hummingbird Charitable Foundation with a heartfelt vision: to foster a better understanding and love for the Hoosier State by celebrating the tireless efforts of charities that are transforming lives and communities through their innovative programs and service. By spotlighting these organizations, Mrs. Pence hopes to inspire others to engage in philanthropy and amplify the tremendous contributions they make to help improve the lives and well-being of Hoosiers.

Each year, the Foundation will select organizations to support financially by hosting a fundraising luncheon with the first one taking place in March 2025 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. The Hummingbird Charitable Foundation will announce the 2025 recipients in December.

In August 2013, while serving as the first lady of Indiana, Mrs. Pence founded the First Lady’s Charitable Foundation to encourage and support youth and families of Indiana. The Foundation awarded over $600,000 in grants to charities serving Hoosiers in all 92 counties in three years.
